Yard management

Challenge

Warehouses and production sites with numerous truck movements per day are looking for ways to improve their yard management. To prevent congestion at the gate, bursts in workload, charges for waiting hours and theft of high value truck loads some form of yard management is indispensable.

The Solution

The Infodis Yard Management service which is a seamlessly integrated part of the Carrier Management Solution gives you full control on the truck movements in your yard.

Security

Yard Management minimizes the risk of cargo theft by unauthorized drivers. On the confirmation of the transport instruction the carrier enters the license plate number of the truck and the name and passport number of the driver. If a driver reports at the gate the gate keeper simply checks the identity of the truck and the driver in the Infodis system.

Timeslot Management

By setting timeslots for the pickup of cargo the workload at the docks can be managed. On the confirmation of the transport instruction the carrier can also express a preference for a period. The warehouse manager takes this preference into account when setting the timeslot for the pickup of the cargo.

Dock Management

Dock management lets the carrier select one of the remaining time slots. The warehouse manager assigns docks to shipments for the next day. At gate entry the gate keeper can direct the driver to the assigned dock. Dock management can be used for inbound and outbound shipments.

The Benefits

  • Effectively control the truck movements at your premises.
  • Unauthorized gate entry of trucks and drivers is prevented
  • Manage time slots and docks with minimum effort
  • Every party has access to the same information. There’s no need for faxing or e-mailing information around to different parties.
